Music by The Piano Brothers

Westbrook,

James I. Brooks born on January 14, 1976 passed away suddenly on August 25, 2017.

He was born in Portland, Maine and attended Gorham schools graduating from Gorham High School in 1995.

Whether you called him James, Big Jim or Jimmy B, he was special to you.

Anyone who knew Jimmy B, laughed with him. He was quick with a joke, a ridiculous story or a well timed song lyric. He could make friends with anyone- school classmates became family and coworkers were quickly known as friends, it was his talent. To know him was truly to love him-- just ask the ladies he managed to charm. Just knowing him made those around him better, more loving people.

He may have been in your class, crashed on your couch, took you to prom, cheated at Halo with you, worked nights with you or maybe you knocked his teeth out playing cops and robbers. He was the type of brother who would lay on the floor and play Barbies, the type of friend who would stand up with you at your wedding and the son who never forgot a birthday, Mother's or Father's Day.

Aside from his humor and boundless heart Jimmy was known for his hair. Big, curly and often out of control, it was part of his trademark along with his signature “Goober” windbreakers and his love of gas station egg salad sandwiches.

Jimmy enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing video games, naming obscure rock music, playing an impeccable air guitar and laughing around a fire.

He is predeceased by his mother Roberta Miller.

Jimmy is survived by the people who loved him most: his father James Brooks Sr. of Westbrook and his brother Jason Brooks of Charleston, South Carolina. His step father Peter Miller of Windham and his second family June and Jeff Davis of Gorham and their children Jeremie Davis and his wife Stacy of Windham and JoHanna Davis of Farmington.

Jimmy B. also leaves behind countless friends- extended family by all accounts. These include although certainly are not limited to: cousins Ben and Matt Esty, Mark and Casey Nealey, Timmy Mulligan, Billy Webber, Terry Webber, Stevie Lailer, Kane Mason, Brian Mitsin, Brett Lewis and countless others who will always laugh remembering their times with Jimmy B.

There will be a graveside service on Wednesday August 30th 2017 at 3:00pm at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland. Arrangements are by Blais & Hay Funeral Home, Westbrook.

“Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator, but among those whom I love, I can; all of them make me laugh.” ―WH Auden
